Evolution

I wrote this for a challenge from The Sience Creative Quarterly. After I wrote it, I looked more closely at the instructions (I tend not to do that) and realized they wanted larger works like stories or novels. Here is is anyway.

suflare It may take one smart spin or a hundred turns

to burn revolutions into our minds,

to create new synapses, blunders

free of tattered storybook blurbs,

to account for brilliant emergence

of a universe blinking in billions

of years, raising us from turds

through countless failed goals

into dreams of souls.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Space

no referer
Ghosts
hide among its void. Molecules dance
wide apart in heat, passionate
partners doing do-si-do, passing far between.
In cold they tire and huddle close,
space shut out with little to show.

Silence
parts my words, parsing intent
with punctuated drama,
allowing you to fill
your hopes with the space
of words I utter not.

This is a 55 word poem, inspired by the challenge from English, August blog.

Gulp

Devoid of blues it flairs hot tubed, into cold wet, gritty mineral soaked tomb.
Probing deeper, the glacier slow nudges of strawberry blond, hairy nose
suck nutritious, mineral cool-aid in exchange for more room. Moleing
to China with remarkable strength, its sunny complexion disguises
such pluck. Vitamin vision guides these blind obelisks deep into
loamy, unknown, dusk colored thoughts. Up above where we
live, green summer tassels now lie withered and tattered,
leaving invisible footer, crunchy treasure to be struck,
storehouse of energy invested for next years flower.

A dozen such creatures exhumed and washed clean
of dark dirt, glow un-naturally bright as a Malibu
sunset. Centrifugal power drains sweet, carotene
packed essence from these brawny tools.
Before I drink I behold this story of
hidden motion underfoot; lean
salubrious gilded towers
grow beneath, beacons
plugging strength
from within
quiet, rich
earth.

Gulp!

Serendipity

Should I never see you again,
Every moment I have spent with you would
Resonate in my heart.
Echoes of your kisses
Never leave my lips.
Daring to have stepped into the fire
I know I shall never return the same.
Perhaps this is exactly what
Is meant to be…
Today what seems but love’s seed may
Yet become tomorrow’s passion flower.
