I wrote this for a challenge from The Sience Creative Quarterly. After I wrote it, I looked more closely at the instructions (I tend not to do that) and realized they wanted larger works like stories or novels. Here is is anyway.
It may take one smart spin or a hundred turns
to burn revolutions into our minds,
to create new synapses, blunders
free of tattered storybook blurbs,
to account for brilliant emergence
of a universe blinking in billions
of years, raising us from turds
through countless failed goals
into dreams of souls.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Garnet, any poem that uses the word “turd” is okay in my book. Screw ’em if they can’t take a joke right??
I liked it Garnet! And I agree with Jeff!
*Hug* 🙂
Smile back at ya, Jeff and Yemanja. It’s nice to see you two. Glad you enjoyed the joke. Turds are full of bacteria, from which we miraculously descended.
Just so you know, the SCQ is just the place where the word “turd” might work. In any event, no harm in submitting this in anyway – especially given the Quarterly’s esoteric nature.
cheers

How fun! My turd poem might be famous! Go Turds.
LOL, I liked the sudden stop offered by the last line.
